A tale for Tosh and a Letter home
Since my story didn't make the cut for the vote in the tales for Tosh compition I took part in I have decided to share it here. It is inspired partly by Sean McCann's song: Soldier's song and the feelings I had when a close friend of mine went to war not to long ago.
Listen to the song first and then read my story :)
A LETTER HOME
It seemed as if the dark blue sky almost surrounded the house itself. The midnight air was still varm, but a cool breeze was blowing in from the waters. The stars were glittering and the moon lit up the porch. In the far corner there was a bench and at the end of it was a woman hinding in the dark. Only a feeble ray of the moonlight hit her and if you walked by the house chances are you would have missed her.
She was a beautiful sight. Her long brown hair fell down her shoulders and it seemed like it was almost sparkling where the moonbeams hit it. She looked a bit tired, but noone would have a second thought of why that was, had they seen her, since it was so close to midnight.
Had you seen her her beauty might had convinced you to take a closer look and you might have seen the letter she was holding in her hands. The paper was crumpled and dirty, but she held on to it as if it was made of gold. Her last treasure in this world.
A breeze hit her face and blew her hair back. She shivered and her face turned a little darker and it was as if her eyes grew more tired. The wind had brought worries along with it. A tear fell from her eye and ran down her left cheek before she drew in a long breath. As the air filled her lungs she gathered up enough courage to finally open the envelope and take out the handwritten letter inside of it.
She started reading and she felt like he was right beside her, speaking the words on the page into her ear. His voice’s sounded soft and calm and she tipped her head as she listened to him tell her about the dangers and how he tried to be careful and take as few chances as possible. Another tear fell from her eye, when he told her about his fear of the dark and what might be waiting out there in the dessert night.
She felt her heart skip a beat as he told her how much he missed her, but all he had to do was to look up at the stars and he would see her face and she smiled as she read the sentence he always ended his letters with: “Goodnight darling - I hope all your dreams will come true. I’ll send all of my goodnights to you.”
Had you noticed her now you would see she was smiling. Smiling through the tears that was running from her eyes. Crying and alone in the dark dark with her crumbled and dirty treasure still in her hands. If you were looking at her, you sure would have noticed her green eyes sparkel as if she had seen a familiar face when she looked up at the stars. You would heve seen how the breeze touched her face. How she smiled and how her tears suddenly stopped falling as if a reassuring hand had touched her cheek.
You probably also have her as spook to the sky and the twinkling stars above her: “Goodnight love - my dreams will come true as soon as you are back here with me.”
And had you heard this sentence you would have watched her as she got back up on her feet and headed back inside and you would like me have remembered have she stopped in the doorway and you would have smiled to yourself as she turned around and looked up at the sky once more, “I am sending all of my goodnights to you too.”
Had you seen this girl in the febble light from the moon you would, like I did, have seen her all of your goodnights as your head hit the pillow that night and every night since then, untill you had noticed month later sitting beside her at the bench on the porch - sharing a moonbeam with her.
I hope u enjoyed it :)
All of my goodnights to all of you <3

The beauty a Songsmith
Today has been a day of music :) I've been going through the old music on my laptop and I started listening to some of my Bruce Guthro music. I haven't been listening to his music for sometime but I never stop loving it. His voice amazes me everytime - whatever he sings his own stuff or he leads the scottish folk-rock band Runrig.
Bruce Guthro himself is canadien (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia), but because of his work with Runrig he spends alot of time in Denmark too and I make it a point to go and see one of his shows every year. At some point he was my fav singer and he is most diffinatly still on my shortlist.
As most of you know my fav band now is Great Big Sea and I actually got introduced to the band through Bruce Guthro. My mom has for as long as I can remember been a Runrig fan, but I never liked the band much untill I discovered they changed their lead vocalist. I started listening to Runrig and they soon became my fave band and naturally I started seaching the net for information about the band. I soon found out that their new lead singer still did solo work and I looked him up. About six month after I really got into Bruce's solo stuff I found a vid online with him doing songwriter's cirle with Julian Austin and Alan Doyle. I immidiatly feel for Alan's voice so I looked the band with the funny name up. After that I was sold - Great Big Sea will always be the number 1 band for me now ;) But Bruce and Runring is still very much among my fav music - let me show you why:
First I would like to share 2 of my fav Runrig songs with you:
This first one is an old folk song but is made famous by Runrig - I love this version of the song and I hope you will enjoy it half as much as I do:
Another one of my fav Runrig songs is Every River. It is an oldie and is normally song by Donnie Monroe (the old lead singer), but I gotta say I prefer this live version with Bruce Guthro from 2009 :)
Now I wanna share 2 of Bruce Guthro's solo songs with you. This first one is a wierd and funny one. It is never released but he usually do one or two of these crazy songs at every show he does. This one is called bruceguthro.com (if anyone of you wonder why he feels the need to offend the danish musicians it is because he's got a danish band when he does his solo stuff when he tours wheather he is in Canada, Germany or Denmark - and maybe I should mention he always make a point of teasing the danish "vikings" even when he is in Denmark ;))
This next song I wanna share with you is from his newest album No final Destination and is inspired by the Katrina's distruction of New Orleans a few years back. It always make me sad to listen to it, but it is such an amazing very well written song I can't help but love it anyway. Maybe my tears just is proof of how well it really works?
A true songsmith is suppose to move you, draw you into a world of emmotions and paint a picture in your head with words. He is able to take you any place anytime. Guthro is able to do just this every time and he actully wrote a song about this amazing ability without realizing how well it really fit himself. So I wanna leave with this song written and sung by a true songsmith :)
Enjoy the rest of your paddy's day and I'll write you all soon :)
Cheers ;)

"So I'll just say what you won't say.."
I've always liked James Blunt's music but I've gotta say his new album sounds like it is going to be a good one.
I just came across this video yesterday and it keeps getting better everytime I hear it :)

Something beautiful waiting for you and me....
I started out wanting to write about sad song... it's a varm summer night and eventough it's raining outside nothing really seemed that bad. So this is about seeing the beautiful that will come once the pain has past. Or about the light in the darkess ;D Listen to the song and feel a bit better...
This first song is about the person who will be with you through it all. No matter how dark the worlds seems a few people will always light up somewhere near you. So allow yourself to see them!!
Bruce Guthro - Someone
Katie tells us not to worry our lives away and think about today instead of tomorrow.. In some ways that aren't that bad an advice you think??? And the video is just so beautiful ;D
Katie Melua - If the lights go out
And finally my fav singer reassures us that everything will look alot brighter soon and a heart that never rest will see the beautiful days soon!
Great Big Sea - Something beautiful
Remember: "There's no bitterness that smolders, no chip on any shoulder
That a random act of kindness couldn't cure"
