Another circle around the sun

2010 is almost over, so it is time to reflect over what kinda year it has been and what is to expect from 2011.

2010 has been a year that has brought me new friends aswell as a year where I have reconnected with some old ones, but I have also realized that even because you have know someone your entire life it doesn't necessarily mean that you are gonna be in their lives forever, atleast not in a way you used to be - and do you know what? That is okay to, a bit sad when the thought first dawned on me, but I realized that I have alot of other amazing people in my life and so does this old friend of mine and if we are not the best of company for each other right now it does not matter and who knows maybe next year at this moment I will reflect back and we'll be as close as ever - who knows??

Like I said I have reconnected with an old friend this year too. Everyone has friends that they have known for a long time, but not really know. I have a few friends like that, but sometimes this year one of these friendships of mine changes. I am not really sure why, when or how it happened but I am glad it did 'cause 2010 brought me a new close friend :)

If you follow my blog or know me personally, you'll know I am also a music/movie buff so I also consider the year in art.

A lot of great albums has been released this year here is a few of the best ones that poops into my mind:

Great Big Sea - Safe upon the shore http://www.greatbigsea.com/store/
Sean McCann - Lullabies for bloodshot eyes http://greatbigsean.com/site/?page_id=7
Katie Melua - The House http://www.amazon.co.uk/House-Katie-Melua/dp/B003AXNSNU
The Avett Brothers - I and love and you http://www.theavettbrothers.com/us/shop
De Eneste To - De eneste to http://deenesteto.dk/

2010 has also been a good movie year. The ones that left an impression on me is:

Robin Hood (my fav actor in an impressive movie. It is stunning, funny and exciting).
Shutter Island (I loved the book and the movie is even better - DiCaprio is a great actor)
The Back-up Plan (Cute, sweet, funny - proved to be one of the best chick flicks I've seen)
Odine (no words - need to be watched. Truely a beautiful film in every sence of the word)
Inception (one of the best action movies I've seen in a while)

Besides my new fav tv-show aired for the first time in 2010: Hawaii Five-0

Other amazing experiences I've gotten in 2010 is counting:

Rasmus Seebach concert in Århus with a friend of mine (after letting her torture my hair ;)) It was a great night and something I diffinatly want to repeat.

Seeing Julie Nord exhibit in Aros really left and impression on me and she is now one of my favorite artist and I really hope to see more of her exhibtions in the future.

U2 concert in Horsen. Eventhough I am by no means a U2 fan, I do think they have made a few good songs and since my sister paid my ticket I wasn't about to turn this experience down and an experience it was. They played some great songs and the light show was extraordinary plus it was great to see my sister experience her favorite band live for the first time.

And the baptism of my best friend beautiful baby-girl:

2010 also brought a few tears. My brother left our hometown and moved 180 km to Fanø to live with his girlfriend which is great for him, but has been a bit wierd and hard on me. I am getting use to not having him so close anymore and I am really happy for him.
Other tears 2010 has brought is also in relation with brother. His girlfriend was diagnoised with an in-operable brain tumor and she is now undergoing treatment ( I hope 2011 will be the year she is declaired healthy).

2010 has also made me question myself - who I am and what I want with my life. I realiezed that I am not sure, so I decided to put college on hold for a while untill I figure it out. Which is what 2011 hopefully will be for me - a year of self discovery and soul searching :)

The last thing that has happend to me in 2010 is a good one without a doubt. I have alway loved writting but I had kinda forgotten about that for a few years, but this year I remembered which means I have begun to write poems and short stories again, but it also means I started up this blog.

2011 will bring more writting, but also lots of moments with my friends. So last but not least I wanna wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

The movies Christmas wouldn't be the same without

I was watching Love Actually with a friend of mine earlier today and she said that, that was her favorite Christmas movie and Christmas just wouldn't be the same if she didn't get to watch it and I realized that I have a few movies like that myself.

For as longs as I can remember I have loved the movie It's a wonderful life and I watch that one every Christmas before Christmas eve and I've gotta confess my Christmas spirit doesn't settle in before I've sat down under my blanket with a cup of hot choco. This ending brings a tear to my eye every time. What a wonderful movie:

But there is also a few newer movies that I love watching either before Christmas or during. One of the is The Santa Claus - just because it is funny ;)

Another one is The Holiday - because it is sweet and really christmassy and because it has my favorite actress (Kate Winslet) in it. It is a romantic chickflick when they are best. And when this movie come on telly Christmas has begun for sure:

But the one movie that is a Christmas must for everyone is A Christmas Carol. This amazing Charles Dickins tale (I also read the book once a year btw. and it is highly reccomended) has been filmed more than once, but I certainly have a fav version and this is it:

May your Christmases past have been good, your Christmas present great and all you future Christmases be WONDERFUL ;D

The things that makes Christmas, Christmas ;)

So what does make Christmas Christmas?? Well I guess it is a bunch of things really, but I do have a few things that spring to mind that makes Christmas Christmas for me. The obvious ones are being aroung family and friends. Feeling the love and watching the beautiful Christmas decorations light up the cold December nights. The freezing cold, the snowcovered ground and the warmth inside the houses while drinking hot choco :)

But one Christmas wouldn't be the same without for me is the Christmas shopping which has to be done in Aarhus, and not untill December has begun. Why?? Because Aarhus is an amazing place to be in December and if you haven't found your Christmas spirit yet, chances are you will find it while shopping for presents for the people you love in this beautiful city.

Another things is a tradition that has been handed down to me. I remember when I was a small kid watching my sister decorate the Christmas tree, but as I grew older and my sister moved out of my parents house this torch was handed on to me and eventhough I don't live at my parents house anymore I am still the one decorating the tree and I've got to say doing this ritual is not something I would give up for anything. I decorate it every year on the 23rd of December and it gives me a feeling of Christmas being very close.

While decoration the tree I listen to Christmas music and the songs and artist vary from year to year but there is a few songs that this ritual just wouldn't be the same without. One of them is Silent Night which is my favorite Christmas song for sure, which artist that gets to sing it vary. This one I chose for you is by Bruce Guthro.

Another song that I loved listening to this year was Ronan Keating's It's only Christmas which has also gotten to be one of my favorite Christmas tunes this year:

And the last one I wanna share with you and that has been played more that once this Christmas and for the last 5 Christmases is a song by my favorite band Great Big Sea and it is a traditional one from their beautiful home in Newfoundland and I just love this song, it's spirit and energy.

So once again I wish you a merry Christmas. Enjoy the last few days of your holiday. The new year is coming soon ;)

New Year's resolution # 1

Not sure there will be more but who knows ;) Well anyway I have decided to take up a challenge of an online bookclub. It is a challenge to read 12 books of 12 different genres within one year.

My friend Theresa (http://girlbirdie.blogspot.com/) convinced me to take this up and I think both of us will enjoy this one. A great way to challenge yourself to read something you otherwise never would pick up.

Join us???

I'm not gonna be a crucifix pin cushion

You might be wondering about the headline of this blog post - but I thought it was kinda fitting since I forgot to tell you about one of my fav shows on my previous post and it is a line from the lyrics to this shows teamsong.

The song is "Oh Yeah" by Great Big Sea:

and the show is "Rebuplic of Doyle":

This show is shot in Newfoundland and it is staring local actor Allan Hawco as the PI Jake Doyle.

Hawco is a great actor and the show is both amusing and exciting, besides the locations are amazing. I love this show and I am looking forward to second season of the show airs sometime after christmas.

Here is a preview from the previous season, which should give u a general idea of the pace and humour of the show:

If this caught your interest you will be able to watch a few of the episodes for free on this site:

Enjoy <3

The best shows on TV!!!

Okay I've got to admit I love TV shows - maybe even more than I love movies.
Why??
Well because you get to now the characters better I guess, and because you see the changes in them slowly over weeks instead of over only a few hours. Don't get me wrong I love movies too, but there is just something about being able to follow a show and it's characters week after week and look forward to what will happen next.

Over the years I have had a lot of fav Tv-shows some of them being teen shows like The OC and Dawson's Creek, when I was growing up others have been TV dramas like ER, comedies like Friends, family dramas like Gilmore Girls and science fiction shows like the X-files, but in this blog post I wanna talk a bit about the shows that are around today - and there really are lots of good shows out there at the moment and it is impossible to watch them all just because you thing they are good (which is one of the troubles with TV-shows I guess).

Some of the shows I like to watch on occasion are doctor shows like House and Grey's Anatomy where House is clearly my fav one. Grey's has always only been a show I have been watching once in a while if I was bored, but it is a good show. House was a show I followed regulary up until the 3rd season where I think a bit to many changes was made for my liking, but I I've gotta say it is a good show and I still tune in once in a while.

There are also good family dramas out there like fx. Brothers and sisters - again not a show I am to familiar with but one I like to watch if I see it is on and I have nothing better to do (or if I need a good excuse not to do the dishes right this moment ;))

Another great show that I have been watching from the get go - but I am not that good at following weekly anymore is Medium and that is by no means because it is a bad show, but just because as I said earlier there are just to many shows out there and I am not able to follow all of them even though I would like too. Medium is a bit sci-fi and a bit detective and a bit family - a great mix and I usually catch up with it when it is released on dvd or re-runs are on TV.

Another show I used to follow was Numbers but for some reason I just kinda lost interest in that one, but I guess that happens once in a while. I really don't have anything bad to say about it - and I am not sure why I stopped watching. Maybe because I am really bad at math and all the numbers just got to much?? Don't know - maybe :)

A cop show I also watch on occasion and actually think I would really love if I had more hours in the day and time enough to follow yet another show is The Mentalist. The idea is original and the show is exciting and fun, besides Simon Baker is a great actor.

There are also a lot of great comedy shows out there. One I watch once in a while is The Big Bang Theory. That is a really funny show and luckily one you don't have to follow to enjoy :)

But now to my top 5 fav shows (and they are of very different genres so you might find one you like among there ;))

5. Is a comedy show and it is called How I meet your mother and is actually not a show I watch every week, but it is in my opinion the best comedy show out there at the moment(and my fav part is the character Barney) and it is diffinatly worth to take a look at:

4. The next show is also one I used to watch regulary but I has gotten a bit away from the this last season, I do fully intend to catch up though. It is a crime/lab show and it is called Bones. The reason why I like this Crime/lab show over all of those others out there is the characters. A lot more work is put into the character building than on any other crimelab show I have ever seen, besides the experiments in the lab are usually very amusing. Take a look for yourself:

3. This next show is also a crime show but in a very different way that Bones. This FBI team takes us into the mind of the criminals and uses psychology to catch the killers and the way the show is shot is genius. It has been a fav of mine from it started almost 6 years ago and I don't think I'll stop watching any time soon (eventho this too has gotten a way for me this season - but once again I will catch up). It is also hard to choose which part of the show to show you, becuase it has gone on for so long and is full of great characters, besides it is also a show that uses a lot of quotes from famous writers and other historic figures which I love. Any way this is the clip I choose:

2. This next show is a sci-fi show and it has been one of my fav shows on TV since it started 5/6 years ago and it is not your every day Sci-fi show, actually it reminds me more of old horror flicks at times. The name of this one is Supernatural and it is about two brothers hunting down supernatural creatures and killing them. It is exciting, scary and funny all at the same time. The shows is carried by only two actors Jared Padelecki (which you may know from Gilmore Girls)and Jensen Ackles (from Dark Angel and Smallville) and they both do a great job with the comedic sides of their characthers as well as the dramatic ones. This is a show that I am really confindent will never start to bore me and it is diffinatly worth you looking into. This clip shows a bit of the shows scary sides aswell as the funny ones:

1. The last show on my list is one brand new and has in my opinion got it all. It is fast, exciting, funny and if full of great actors. It is only 12 episodes into it's first season, but you still might know the name of it since it is a remake of a 70s Tv-show. It is called Hawaii Five-0.
It is a cop show and it was big in the 70s (according to my mom) and it even had cult phrases like Book 'em Danno. It didn't know the phrase or the show untill I started watching the new one but my mom says it looks just as good as the old one.
Since I have not watched the old one I can not judge there all I know is I think it is the best show on tv at the moment. The story line is great and the cast is amazing and counts guest appearences like Balthazar Getty (Alias) and James Masters (Buffy, Angel) not to mention the regulars:
Daniel Dae Kim (from Lost), Scott Caan (son of James Caan and know from the Ocean's movies) and Alex O'Loughlin (from tv-shows like Moonlight and the romantic comedy The back-up plan). U have chosen a clip that shows a bit of the action in the show and a lot of the fun. In any case it is a good indicater of the style and it is deffinatly worth you checking out:

Any way this is the shows I enjoy watching, maybe you will find a bit of inspiration here if you are searching for a new show to follow or maybe I just helped you remember a show you once loved to watched, I know I just remembered a few myself :)

Talent on display

I have a sister with a great talent, she is able to draw just about everything you put in front. Amazing..

She is able to draw potraits of people as well as animals, and I am very proud of her and a wee bit jealous of this gift of hers, but hey not everyone can have the same talent so I think I'll stick with writting. :)

Anyway this post is dedicated to my sister Mona Frandsen and her art :)

I have chosen a few of her pictures to display for you here. Enjoy:

My sister has been painting and drawing pictures of animals for as long as I can remember and I think that this one is an oldie ;)

This one is an oldie too. My sister drew this one for our aunt, a few years back and it is of my grandparents dog. Dog, aunt and grandparents are sadly all past away now.

This one is of canadien singer/songwriter Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea. She did this one as a gift for me, since he is my fav singer.

This last one is of Mona's own fav singer Bono of U2.

I think my sister is a very talented woaman and I am very proud of her. I hope you'll like her pictures as much as I do.

Chick flicks - The good vs. the bad

Let's face it there are tons of chick flicks out there, some are cute, soom are great and others are... well horrible!!

When I was younger I was not one to watch to many movies that falls under the category chick flicks but as I have grown older I actually injoy them ... well some of them. I have spend the last few days being sick and what better way to pass time than to whatch a few chick flicks (this made me realieze how many good as well as bad ones that are out there). Here is a few ones I really hated (not all of them been watched over the last few days I might add ;)):

Dr. T and the women:

Way to many characters (almost impossible to keep track of) and the plot does not work (if there even is one :S)

Divine secrets of the Ya ya sisterhood:

Simply? Boring and way to long!!!

At first sight:

Proof that even chick flicks can be to cheesy. I am actually not sure why I didn't like this one, maybe poor acting?? I don't know...

The price and me - the royal wedding:

Okay I like the first one of these, but this one is stupid, annoying and down-right insulting and yes I am danish so I know what I am taking about when I say it is diffinatly by no means acurrate.

But as I said there are also alot of good ones out there and here is some of my fave ones

The Notebook:

A sweet story of love that conquers everything :) Gotta love it. The ending is a bit to long, but I forgive the movie because everything else is great :)

Sweet November:

A cute life-affirming story. Every day counts and I actually cried in the end of this one ;)

The back-up plan:

Does guys like this really exist? I sure hope so and if they do... I want one, even if he does smell like cheese ;)

Definitely, Maybe:

Well this movie is just adorable. It is the story you kinda already know the ending to and I surprises you anyway ;) Gotta love it :)

So there you have it.. chick flicks - the good and the bad :)

Sick day with chick flicks....

I hate being sick (and I have gotten the flu ) :( .... so now it is time to do my best to cheer myself up and I think a few chick flicks might do the trick.

I picked out 3 movies and getting ready to spend the rest of my day in bed (maybe with a good cup of tea)

The first one I picked out is an "oldie." I have had this one for a while but haven't seen it for a few years since I bought it and I remember it to be quite good.

The lake house (with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves):

This next one is a bit newer but I have had it laying around for a few months now. I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet, but I've got a feeling today might be the day.

Ghots of girlfriend's past (with Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey):

And the last one I have found is quite new and one I really look forward to watching after seeing the trailer online.

The back up plan (with Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin):

So hopefully I will have an okay day after all :)

I'm here

I've just finished watching an incredible short film. So if you find yourself with 30 minutes to spare in this busy month of December then you should sit down in front of your computer and wacth "I'm Here".

It is a sweet, beautiful and heartwarming movie about meaning something to someone and how it is the only thing that proves you are here, but also a movie about sacrificing everything for someone you love.

I'm Here means being there for someone as much as it means feeling loved proves to yourself that you really are here.

Did this peak your interest? For a short periode of time you can watch the movie online here: http://www.imheremovie.com/ and all you have to do is connect to your facebook profile! It is well worth your time and you will no regret it!

Merry christmas everyone

Sean McCann (left - picture taking by Roxanne Diamond) just shared an awesome christmas present with all of his fans - a new christmas song and he also showed of the cover of his new cd: Son of a Sailor. I look forward to listening to the album when it is released in 2011 - but the song is without doubt the best gift and is as of now one of my fav christmas songs.
If you want to you can listen to it (and even download it) on his website:
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I've always liked this song but I really started to love it when I heard it with Sean McCann. He's truely got an amazing voice and he displays it perfectly with this song.

Listen and be impressed by the amazing Sean McCann:
